EDAW OFFICE FITOUT - Melbourne CBD

This is an interior scheme for the new Melbourne office of landscape architectural firm EDAW (recently merged with prominent Melbourne landscape architectural firm Paterson + Pettus Pty Ltd). It attempts to deal with the complex relationship between interior and exterior by attempting to extend the notion of a landscape within architecture, whilst at a functional level expressing and facilitating the merge of the two practices. Observations about the existing space triggered ideas about the instigation of stereoscopic views from the lift cars serving the floor, and the literal ‘greening’ of a deliberately sparce interior through the cultivation of ‘virtual courtyards’ of grass-coloured carpet. These help to unify the scheme in a chlorophyllic haze of various surface materials, differing lighting temperatures and mirrored reflection.
